Luxurious Grand Tour Itinerary 10 Days   

Upon arrival, you’ll be greeted at the airport and driven to Casablanca and then onto Rabat. In Casablanca you will see the Hassan II Mosque, the largest outside of Mecca and afterwards and afterwards we’ll leave for Rabat, the capital of Morocco. Here, you will see the Hassan Tower, the Oudaya Kasbah before checking into your Riad. Overnight accommodation will be in a Hotel 4 star or riad at the heart of the Medina.

Day 2:  Rabat–Meknes–Volubilis–Fes                   

After breakfast we’ll travel to Fes via Meknes and Volubilis. Meknes is another significant imperial city in Morocco, known as the Ismaili capital of Morocco.  Here you’ll see the famous gate Bab Mansour, the Sahrij Souani Bassin, and the Mulay Ismail Mausoleum. After lunch, your journey continues to Volubilis, the Roman ruins, dating to 25BC where some of the original mosaics are still in very good shape.  Later we’ll arrive at your Riad in Fes.

Day 3: Exploring Fes

A day to explore the oldest city in Morocco, taking in its alleys and narrow streets. Our visit starts by visiting the Royal Palace gate, the Jewish headquarter, the first Mellah ever built in Morocco in the 16th century. We’ll see that you visit all the historical sites including the famous Al Qaraouine University, the oldest in the region, the Tanneries, the Attarine museum and Mulay Idriss mausoleum. After lunch, you’ll visit the Tiles co-operative and then experience a wonderful panoramique view over the whole Medina of Fes.

Day 4: Fes – Ifran – Azrou – Midelt 

After breakfast we’ll leave Fes travelling towards Ifran, a beautiful mountains village, referred to as “the Switzerland of Morocco” and then onto Midelt. During this journey you’ll experience glimpses of the Middle Atlas and Higher Atlas mountains. Stopping at Azrou, a Berber village in the middle of the famous cedar forest – the largest in Morocco – where you may see some Barbary apes. After lunch your journey continues to Midelt along the magnificent hills and mountains of the Atlas. In Midelt you’ll be staying in luxurious hotel, Hotel Taddarte.

Day 5: Midelt – Errachidia – Ziz Valley – Merzouga

After breakfast in your hotel we’ll travel to Merzouga via Errachidia and Erfoud. You’ll be travelling through the fascinating Tiz Ntalghamt pass and the Ziz Gorge, taking in views of the High Atlas plateau. Afterwards, you’ll travel along the luxuriant Ziz Valley, stopping for panoramic views along the way to Erfoud and Rissani. Arriving at Merzouga in the afternoon you’ll be welcomed with a glass of mint tea before checking into your riad. Your overnight stay will be in Riad Nezha.

Day 6: Merzouga area – Camel trek – Overnight stay in a nomadic tent

Day 6 begins with a 4×4 tour of the dunes and surrounding villages.  You’ll meet some Gnawa musicians, originally slaves brought from Sudan and sample their music and performance. Not far away there’s the lake of Merzouga, with its bird population and superb desert views. In the afternoon you’ll set off with your camel for your desert ride guided by an experienced camel man to explore within the golden sand sea of Merzouga. Dinner will be in front of your tent where you’lll spend the night. (the camp is equipped with flush-toilets).

Day 7: Merzouga – Todra Gorges – Dades Valley

Your camelman will wake you up early in the morning to watch what well may be the best sunrise of your life. Afterwards you’ll peacefully camel-trek back to the village of Merzouga. En-route you won’t fail to appreciate the unique beauty of the spectacular Erg Chebbi sand dunes – changing with the light as the light rises. After breakfast in the Riad, you’ll leave for Rissani, Tinghir, and Todra gorges – the highest, narrowest gorges in Morocco. After lunch in the heart of the gorge we’ll drive through the Dades Valley, where you’ll see the majestic sand castles and the amazing rock formations known as “monkey toes”. Overnight accommodation will be in a fancy hotel overlooking the Dades valley. Hotel Xalucadades.

Day 8: Dades Gorge–Bouthaghrar-Skoura–Ouarzazate                                                                  

After breakfast in the hotel, you’ll travel through the Dades Valley towards Kalaa M’gouna and Ouarzazate. The route through the Dades Valley is the way of the thousand Kasbahs, providing numerous opportunities to take some of your best photographic shots of the trip. Today you will have the opportunity to meet Berber Nomads in their caves and then you’ll enjoy the fertile Rose valley and the rock formations along the way. We’ll stop at Kalaat M’gouna, “the rose city”, to purchase the rosewater, which will make your linen smell good a long time after your trip is over. Continue to Skoura and the birds valley; visit the Kasbah Ameridil, a well-preserved kasbah in this area. After some hiking in the valley stop in a restaurant, overlooking the whole valley, for lunch. On to Ouarzazate , “the Hollywood of Africa”, whose geography and beautiful landscapes has attracted many world class movie producers. Here you may choose to visit the studios, containing props used in movies, you may have already seen, such as The Mummy, Gladiator and the Last temptation of Christ. .. Overnight accommodation will be in a local riad. Overnight Dar   Chamaa.

Day 9: Ouarzazate – Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah – Marrakesh

After breakfast in your Riad, we’ll head to Marrakesh, visiting Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah, the largest Kasbah in Morocco, built by T-hami El Glaoui, one of the last Berber chieftains during the beginning of the XXth Century.  In Taliouine, the capital of Safran in Morocco, you have the chance to visit the Safran co-operative. If your visit coincides with the Safran harvest, you’ll have the opportunity to meet the Berber people with their families harvesting the Safran in their fields. We should arrive at Marrakesh in the afternoon and in the evening you’ll experience the extraordinary spectacle of Jemaa el-Fnaa. Accommodation will be in a centrally located Riad. Or hotel.

Day 10: Marrakech – departure to airport

The tour includes all en-suite accommodation, breakfast and evening dinner.

Today, depending on your departure time, we will drive you to the airport for your departure flight.

Tour ends at the airport.
